Northern India: Looms, Weaves and Dying
From the crafts of Rajasthan and its block printers and desert-dyeing studios, this itinerary highlights master artisans, heritage techniques, and the landscapes that have shaped centuries of craft. It’s a rich blend of workshops, village visits, historic sites, and conversations with the makers themselves. Our ideal timeframes for visiting Northern India are between February and April.
Southern India: Textiles and Craft Traditions
Travel through Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala to explore silk weaving, natural dyes, handloom cooperatives, and coastal craft communities. Expect warm hospitality, hands-on sessions, and encounters with artisans who carry some of India’s oldest textile lineages. Our ideal timeframe for Southern India is Dec-February.
Nepal
A journey to Nepal blends Himalayan majesty with an intimate look at centuries-old craft traditions. Days in Kathmandu wind through temple squares, bustling markets, and workshops where artisans weave dhaka, felt wool, and hand-loomed cotton using techniques passed through generations. You might meet makers in Patan’s craft districts, visit small cooperatives in the Kathmandu Valley, and end your days with golden-hour views over stupas and prayer flags. It’s a trip that pairs cultural depth with the quiet awe of Nepal’s landscapes where textiles, history, and mountain air woven together. The bet timeframe to visit Nepal is March-May.
